Ascension App AB (organisation number 559292-7569, Sweden) is the data controller for the processing described in this policy. Contact: support@ascensionapp.ai. The EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies to all of our processing.
Ascension stores your activity data (screen time, browsing activity, blocking rules, goals and reports) locally on your own computer. That data is never transmitted to us. We have no access to it. This policy therefore covers only the limited data that does reach us or our service providers.
When you activate, validate or deactivate a license the app sends your license key and a device identifier to Lemon Squeezy to enforce the license you purchased. The same validation runs each time the app starts. The identifier is a randomly generated ID, not derived from your hardware. The legal basis is performance of contract.
As merchant of record, Lemon Squeezy provides us with your purchase details: typically your email address, country, the license purchased and its activations. We use these to sell and support the product (performance of contract) and to meet our bookkeeping and tax obligations under Swedish accounting law and EU VAT rules (legal obligation). We also review activation patterns in Lemon Squeezy to prevent license key abuse (legitimate interest).
When you contact support, we process your email address and whatever you write to us in order to answer you. The legal basis is performance of contract and legitimate interest.
Standard server logs (IP address, user agent, timestamp) arise when the app checks for updates, when you visit the website or when you download the installer. We rely on our legitimate interest in operating and securing the service. The update check itself contains no personal data or parameters of any kind.
Payment details such as card numbers and billing information are handled entirely by Lemon Squeezy and never reach us. We do not use personal data for advertising, profiling or automated decision making. We do not sell or share it for marketing purposes.
Four providers receive personal data when you use our services. Lemon Squeezy (US) is the merchant of record and operates the payment and license infrastructure. Cloudflare (US) provides DNS and hosts the installer download. Lovable (Sweden) hosts the website. Google (US) serves the website's fonts through Google Fonts, which means your browser requests font files from Google's servers and Google receives your IP address in the process.
Where data leaves the EEA, transfers to the US providers above are safeguarded by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, with Standard Contractual Clauses as fallback. We may disclose data where required by law, for instance under a valid order from a Swedish court or supervisory authority.
Purchase and license records are kept while your license is active and thereafter as long as Swedish accounting law requires (generally seven years). Support correspondence is deleted once your matter is resolved. Server logs follow our providers' standard retention periods, typically 30 days or less. Data on your own device is under your control and never reaches us.
You have the right to access, rectify and erase your personal data. You can also restrict or object to processing, request data portability and withdraw consent where processing relies on it. Legal retention duties (such as accounting records) may limit erasure. To exercise these rights, email support@ascensionapp.ai; we respond within 30 days. You may also lodge a complaint with the Swedish supervisory authority, Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten (IMY), at imy.se.
We may update this policy. The date above reflects the current revision. Material changes will be announced on the website before they take effect.
