Terms of Service

Ascension is a productivity tool. It tracks how you spend time on your own device, blocks websites and applications you choose and shows reports about your own activity. Everything it tracks is stored on your own device. We never receive your activity data.

When you purchase Ascension you receive a license key. It grants you a personal right to use the app. You may not transfer, resell, sublicense or share it. The license can be active on up to two machines at the same time. You can deactivate it on one machine and activate it on another whenever you like, directly in the app. You receive a right to use the software, not ownership of the software itself. We offer two license types. A lifetime license is a single payment that grants the right to use Ascension, including updates released while your license is valid. A subscription license grants the right to use Ascension while the subscription is active. If the subscription lapses the app stops tracking and blocking until you renew. Purchases are processed by Lemon Squeezy (Lemon Squeezy LLC) as merchant of record. Lemon Squeezy is the legal seller of the license and handles billing, taxes, VAT and payment data. Your payment information goes to Lemon Squeezy, not to us. Their terms and privacy policy apply to the payment transaction itself.

All sales are final. We do not offer refunds on lifetime or subscription purchases. By completing a purchase you agree that the license is delivered and usable immediately and you acknowledge that this waives the withdrawal right that EU consumers otherwise have for 14 days after buying digital content. You can cancel a subscription at any time to stop future charges. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for. Statutory consumer rights that cannot be excluded by contract are not affected by anything in these Terms.

You agree not to reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the app except where applicable law expressly permits it. You agree not to redistribute, resell or sublicense the app or any license keys, not to circumvent the license activation system, not to use unauthorised keys and not to use the product for any unlawful purpose. We may disable a license key if we have reasonable grounds to believe it is being used in violation of these Terms.

Ascension, including the desktop app, the browser extensions, the website, the branding and all related content, belongs to Ascension App AB. Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of the software or any intellectual property to you. Your own data (what you track, what you block, your settings, your reports) belongs to you and stays on your device. We make no claim to it. The app includes open source components from other authors. Those components remain under their own licenses.

Ascension helps you direct your own attention. Blocking runs on your own machine and a determined user can find ways around it. We do not guarantee that any block is impossible to bypass or that tracking captures every moment of activity. You remain responsible for how you use your time and your devices.

We aim to keep the website, the license service and the update service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Services may be taken offline temporarily for maintenance. The desktop app works offline. The license is checked when the app starts. If the license service cannot be reached, the app keeps working as normal. We may release updates that change, add or remove features. The browser extensions are distributed through the browser vendors' stores and depend on those browsers. Changes made by browser vendors can affect how the extensions work or whether they remain available.

Ascension is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not warrant that the app is free of errors or fit for a particular purpose. Ascension is not a medical, therapeutic or psychological intervention. If you have a clinical condition relating to attention, focus or compulsive behaviour, consult a qualified professional.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Ascension App AB is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of the product. Our total liability for any claim under these Terms is limited to the amount you paid for the license in the twelve months before the claim arose. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

You can stop using Ascension at any time by uninstalling it. We may suspend or terminate your license if you breach these Terms. On termination you must stop using the app. Data stored on your own machine remains yours.

We may update these Terms. The date at the top reflects the current revision. Material changes will be announced on the website before they take effect. Continued use of the product after a change means you accept the new version.

These Terms are governed by Swedish law. Disputes will be decided by the competent Swedish courts unless mandatory consumer law in your country of residence provides otherwise.

If you are a minor you need a parent or guardian to purchase Ascension and accept these Terms on your behalf. If any part of these Terms is found invalid, the rest remains in force. These Terms are the entire agreement between you and us regarding Ascension. We may assign these Terms as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets. If we choose not to enforce a provision, that is not a waiver of it.
